Concrete is never recommended to be kept in either hot temperature , that is above 300 degree F , or low temperature , that is below 50 degree C.

There are various factors that influence the behaviour of concrete at high temperature .

1.Abrupt temperature changes

Sudden changes in the temperature can cause the concrete  Repair Little Rock  to crack and spall due to heat shock . Aggregate expansion due to abrupt alterations in the temperature can produce distress within the concrete .

2. Compression strength of concrete

High temperature can affect the concrete and its compressive strength.  With more than 212 degree F , the paste begins to dehydrate. the reason can be as the paste of cement can be deprived chemically combined water of hydration. This can lead to weakening of paste and the paste-aggregate affix.

3.Colour changes in the aggregate

The temperature of the concrete can be determined by observing the colour changes in the aggregate .For instance , the aggregate of limestone is likely to convert into pink when they cross about 570 degree F .

4.Rapid evaporation

It is difficult to retain moisture for hydration because of rapid evaporation of water during curing period . It is also difficult to control air content when air enters the concrete . To control the temperature of concrete and to avoid adverse effect of hot weather , it is advised to limit the maximum temperature of concrete as 30 to 35 degree C .

5.Effect of low temperature

Problems arise  when concrete is produced in cold weather . Sometimes severe damage is also caused to the concrete especially when concrete which is still in the plastic form are exposed to low temperature . Because of cold , ice lenses are formed and expansion occurs within the pore structure . It is advised to keep the concrete at a normal temperature : not too hot and not too  cold .

6.Setting is delayed

When the temperature hikes down suddenly the setting of concrete is delayed as compared to that in normal temperature .  This delays the entire process of work  and creates a problem .

Moreover , if the concrete is exposed to cold weather for a long time , it may probably start get hard and the quality of the concrete is damaged . Thus it shouldn’t be kept in contact of cold temperature and due to rapid evaporation in hot temperature , it loses the water of hydration . Thus , concrete should always be kept in normal temperature . This would ensure its quality and strength .
